AuthentiCity is an event, supported by Stonewall, created exclusively for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans* (LGBT) undergraduates looking to explore career opportunities in the City. If you have career aspirations in Legal, Investment Banking, Accountancy, Fund Management, Insurance or Real Estate – or you simply wish to explore what these industries have to offer – then this event is for you.

Please join us for a special event to highlight the benefits and challenges of building a career in fund management at our latest event, co-hosted by Sapphire Partners and in collaboration with other investors.

Our key note speaker, Anne Richards, CEO M&G Investments shares her personal career journey and the challenges she overcame, followed by a lively panel discussion about building a career in the investment profession from our inspiring panel from across the investment community.

This event is for female students and recent graduates who are considering a career in Fund Management. Applications from students with a non-Finance background are encouraged.

Key Note Speaker:

Anne Richards, CEO, M&G Investments

Anne is the Chief Executive of M&G, a position she has held since June 2016. Before joining Prudential, Anne was Chief Investment Officer and Head of the EMEA region for Aberdeen Asset Management PLC. Anne began her career in Geneva at the nuclear research organisation CERN before working for the technology consultancy Cambridge Consultants. She became an analyst for Alliance Capital in 1992 and then moved into portfolio management with roles at JPMorgan Investment Management and Mercury Asset Management. She joined the Board of Edinburgh Fund Managers as Chief Investment Officer and Joint Managing Director in 2002, and continued as CIO following Aberdeen Asset Management's acquisition of Edinburgh Fund Managers in 2003.

Anne is Vice Convener of the Court of Edinburgh University, Chair of the CERN & Society Foundation, and a member of the Financial Conduct Authority Practitioner Panel. She is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, an Honorary Fellow of the CFA Institute (UK) and holds an honorary degree from Heriot-Watt University. Anne is also on the Board of Leaders of 2020 Women on Boards, a US organisation which aims to increase the proportion of women on corporate boards. From 2012-2016 Anne was a non-Executive Director of Esure Group. She is also on the Steering Committee of the 30% Club. Anne was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in 2014, and a CBE in 2015. In September 2016 she was placed at Number 45 on the Fortune Most Powerful Women International List.

Helena Morrissey, Founder, 30% Club

Helen joined the investment industry in 1997 and joined Aviva Investorsin 2016. Helen joined Aviva Investors from LGIM, where she worked as a Global Fund Manager on the Active Equities team. Prior to this Helen was an Investment Director, managing UK Equity funds with Standard Life Investments in Edinburgh. Before joining Standard Life Investments, Helen started her career with HSBC Asset Management in London. In her role as Head of Global Equities, Helen has oversight for our Global Equity Team & management of our Global Equity fund range. Helen is co-manager on our AIMS Global Equity Target Income Strategy.

Helen holds a BA(Hons) in Business Management from Loughborough University and is a CFA charterholder.

Shruti Khandekar, Analyst, HSBC Global Asset Management

Shruti Khandekar is an Analyst within the Global Credit Research team in London and joined HSBC in 2015. She covers utility and consumer sectors. Prior to this role, Shruti was on the HSBC Global Asset Management Graduate Programme, in which she completed rotations across institutional sales & conduct risk, macroeconomic & multi-asset research, and fixed income product specialists teams. Before joining HSBC, Shruti worked as a Fixed Income Portfolio Analyst at UBS Global Asset Management. She holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Surrey.

Jennifer Gillespie, Head of Money Markets, Legal & General Investment Management

In 2008 Jennifer joined LGIM as Head of Money Markets, moving from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) where she was Investment Director, Money Market Funds. Prior to this Jennifer also held the role of Treasury Manager with Scottish Widows Bank (SWB). She has more than 23 years of industry experience covering segregated cash mandates, liquidity and cash funds. Jennifer graduated from the University of Waterloo in Canada with a BA (hons) in Soviet studies. She is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

Jenny Rodgers, Fund Manager, M&G Investments

Jenny Rodgers is a member of the Macro & Multi Asset Investment Team at M&G and is a Fund Manager of a Multi Asset Charity fund as well as Co-Fund Manager of the M&G Episode Growth Fund.

Jenny joined Prudential Portfolio Managers (now M&G) in 1994, initially analysing European equity markets and acting as a Portfolio Manager for external clients. She has been part of the Macro Investment team led by Dave Fishwick since it was established in 1999. Jenny is a Chartered Financial Analyst, has a BA Honours in Economics from Exeter University and is currently studying for a MSc in Finance.

Alix Stewart, Fund Manager, Schroders

Yolanda Courtines, Global Industry Analyst, Wellington Management

As a global industry analyst in Global Industry Research, Yolanda specializes in the finance sector and focuses her research primarily on European and Latin American banks. She conducts fundamental analysis on the companies within her industry and makes buy/sell recommendations to portfolio managers based on her findings and market conditions.

Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2006, Yolanda worked for JPMorgan Chase in London for seven years (1999 – 2006) as a Latin American and eastern European banks analyst. Before that, she covered Latin American banks at both SG Cowen (1997 – 1999) and Oppenheimer (1995 – 1997) in New York. She also spent time at the World Bank in Washington DC (1992 – 1993). Yolanda earned a master of international affairs degree from Columbia University (1995) and a BA from Tulane University (1991). Additionally, she is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute. Yolanda speaks fluent French, Portuguese, and Spanish in addition to her native English.
