Please join us for a special event to highlight the benefits and challenges of building a career in fund management at our latest event, co-hosted by Sapphire Partners and in collaboration with other investors.

Our key note speaker, Anne Richards, CEO M&G Investments shares her personal career journey and the challenges she overcame, followed by a lively panel discussion about building a career in the investment profession from our inspiring panel from across the investment community.

This event is for female students and recent graduates who are considering a career in Fund Management. Applications from students with a non-Finance background are encouraged.

Key Note Speaker:

Anne Richards, CEO, M&G Investments

Anne is the Chief Executive of M&G, a position she has held since June 2016. Before joining Prudential, Anne was Chief Investment Officer and Head of the EMEA region for Aberdeen Asset Management PLC. Anne began her career in Geneva at the nuclear research organisation CERN before working for the technology consultancy Cambridge Consultants. She became an analyst for Alliance Capital in 1992 and then moved into portfolio management with roles at JPMorgan Investment Management and Mercury Asset Management. She joined the Board of Edinburgh Fund Managers as Chief Investment Officer and Joint Managing Director in 2002, and continued as CIO following Aberdeen Asset Management's acquisition of Edinburgh Fund Managers in 2003.

Anne is Vice Convener of the Court of Edinburgh University, Chair of the CERN & Society Foundation, and a member of the Financial Conduct Authority Practitioner Panel. She is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, an Honorary Fellow of the CFA Institute (UK) and holds an honorary degree from Heriot-Watt University. Anne is also on the Board of Leaders of 2020 Women on Boards, a US organisation which aims to increase the proportion of women on corporate boards. From 2012-2016 Anne was a non-Executive Director of Esure Group. She is also on the Steering Committee of the 30% Club. Anne was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in 2014, and a CBE in 2015. In September 2016 she was placed at Number 45 on the Fortune Most Powerful Women International List.

Helena Morrissey, Founder, 30% Club

Helen joined the investment industry in 1997 and joined Aviva Investorsin 2016. Helen joined Aviva Investors from LGIM, where she worked as a Global Fund Manager on the Active Equities team. Prior to this Helen was an Investment Director, managing UK Equity funds with Standard Life Investments in Edinburgh. Before joining Standard Life Investments, Helen started her career with HSBC Asset Management in London. In her role as Head of Global Equities, Helen has oversight for our Global Equity Team & management of our Global Equity fund range. Helen is co-manager on our AIMS Global Equity Target Income Strategy.

Helen holds a BA(Hons) in Business Management from Loughborough University and is a CFA charterholder.

Shruti Khandekar, Analyst, HSBC Global Asset Management

Shruti Khandekar is an Analyst within the Global Credit Research team in London and joined HSBC in 2015. She covers utility and consumer sectors. Prior to this role, Shruti was on the HSBC Global Asset Management Graduate Programme, in which she completed rotations across institutional sales & conduct risk, macroeconomic & multi-asset research, and fixed income product specialists teams. Before joining HSBC, Shruti worked as a Fixed Income Portfolio Analyst at UBS Global Asset Management. She holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Surrey.

Jennifer Gillespie, Head of Money Markets, Legal & General Investment Management

In 2008 Jennifer joined LGIM as Head of Money Markets, moving from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) where she was Investment Director, Money Market Funds. Prior to this Jennifer also held the role of Treasury Manager with Scottish Widows Bank (SWB). She has more than 23 years of industry experience covering segregated cash mandates, liquidity and cash funds. Jennifer graduated from the University of Waterloo in Canada with a BA (hons) in Soviet studies. She is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

Jenny Rodgers, Fund Manager, M&G Investments

Jenny Rodgers is a member of the Macro & Multi Asset Investment Team at M&G and is a Fund Manager of a Multi Asset Charity fund as well as Co-Fund Manager of the M&G Episode Growth Fund.

Jenny joined Prudential Portfolio Managers (now M&G) in 1994, initially analysing European equity markets and acting as a Portfolio Manager for external clients. She has been part of the Macro Investment team led by Dave Fishwick since it was established in 1999. Jenny is a Chartered Financial Analyst, has a BA Honours in Economics from Exeter University and is currently studying for a MSc in Finance.

Alix Stewart, Fund Manager, Schroders

Yolanda Courtines, Global Industry Analyst, Wellington Management

As a global industry analyst in Global Industry Research, Yolanda specializes in the finance sector and focuses her research primarily on European and Latin American banks. She conducts fundamental analysis on the companies within her industry and makes buy/sell recommendations to portfolio managers based on her findings and market conditions.

Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2006, Yolanda worked for JPMorgan Chase in London for seven years (1999 – 2006) as a Latin American and eastern European banks analyst. Before that, she covered Latin American banks at both SG Cowen (1997 – 1999) and Oppenheimer (1995 – 1997) in New York. She also spent time at the World Bank in Washington DC (1992 – 1993). Yolanda earned a master of international affairs degree from Columbia University (1995) and a BA from Tulane University (1991). Additionally, she is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute. Yolanda speaks fluent French, Portuguese, and Spanish in addition to her native English.

Speakers: Jonathan Willcocks and Rajmeet Bhatti

Jonathan Willcocks

Jonathan Willcocks joined the industry in 1986, beginning his career with Hambros Bank in the Investment Management Division. Having moved into Investment Sales from Hambros, he joined Prolific as Regional Sales Manager in 1993 responsible for marketing mutual funds to intermediaries in East Anglia and West Midlands. Following the merger with Aberdeen in 1997, he became Investment Sales Director, having additional responsibility for clients in London and Switzerland. He moved to US investment house MFS in 2001 as Sales Director, responsible for sales into UK and Scandinavia before joining M&G Investments in February 2005 where he is now Managing Director for Global Retail Sales.

Jonathan’s current responsibilities include being a board member, distribution strategy and overseeing all sales channels in the UK, Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Asia. Jonathan is also a Fellow of the UK Securities Institute, and a Chartered Wealth Manager. He also now sits on the UK IMA Investment Funds Committee.

Rajmeet Bhatti

Rajmeet joined M&G in 2005 and currently holds the position of Executive Business Manager supporting the M&G CEO and CFO’s respective offices. Rajmeet’s main responsibilities include coordinating the development of the M&G Group strategic business plan working across Finance and with the planning teams of the individual M&G business units to do so. Aligned with this is the responsibility for the analysis and articulation of M&G’s business and financial performance both for internal and external reporting purposes. Rajmeet is also responsible for leading projects for the CEO and / or CFO.

Prior to this, Rajmeet worked in the Finance function within M&G Retail. In this role, she worked closely with the Retail Global Sales team providing financial analysis and reporting to support decision making and the achievement of the growth plans across the distribution business.

Before M&G, Rajmeet started her career in Finance working at Ferrero in a junior management accountant role. Rajmeet graduated from Warwick University in 2003 with BSc hons in Economics and Politics. Rajmeet is an Associate Chartered Management Accountant.

Outside of work, Rajmeet is an active member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds and sits on the London Gala Committee with responsibility for the organisation of the annual charity gala event. Rajmeet also loves exploring new travel destinations with friends and is a keen skier and a less keen runner.

Ritu Vohora

Ritu joined M&G in May 2005. Ritu is an Investment Director and heads up investment communications on portfolio construction, investment risk and markets across the equity fund range.

She graduated from Warwick Business School with a BSc (honours) degree in Accounting and Finance in 2003 and subsequently gained an MSc in Management & Regulation of Risk at the London School of Economics in 2004. Ritu has completed the UKSIP level 3 certificate in investment management (IMC) and is a CFA charterholder.

Jenny Williams

Jenny joined M&G Investments in 2000 as a Director of Fixed Income in the Institutional Fixed Income team and is now Head of Institutional Public Debt business.

Prior to joining M&G, Jenny was with Pictet Asset Management Ltd where she worked as a Senior Investment Manager covering the UK and Japanese fixed income markets for a number of large client portfolios. Jenny moved to Pictet from Midland Montagu Asset Management, where she ran international and UK fixed Income funds.

Jenny began her career at Citibank N.A. in 1979 before joining UBS Securities Ltd, where she was responsible for international bond sales to major UK investment institutions, predominantly insurance companies. Jenny graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

Cecile Mariani

Cécile joined M&G in 2004 in the Italian office carrying out different sales functions in particular the implementation of the retail strategy on the ground. Today the Italian business is one the most successful business of M&G outside the UK. Cécile moved to London to the M&G Global Banks role in 2012. Created in 2010, M&G Global Banks coordinates the strategy on 15 global accounts.

Prior to joining M&G, Cécile worked for Société Générale in the investment bank arm in various roles in Financial Institutions Group and Private Equity group – in both London and Milan.

Ben Constable-Maxwell

Ben joined M&G in 2003 as an Investment Specialist supporting the Global Equities team before moving to the Corporate Finance and Stewardship team in 2013, focusing on ESG at international companies. Ben was responsible for developing the integration of ESG in M&G’s investment processes and sits on M&G’s Responsible Investment Advisory Committee, which oversees Responsible Investment activities at M&G.

Previous to M&G, Ben spent four years in the Equities team at Invesco Perpetual. Ben graduated from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with an Honours Degree in Classics. Ben also sits on M&G’s Staff Charity Fund Committee. His interests include photography, film, travel and politics… and ‘middle-aged’ sports such as tennis and cycling.
