Develop your understanding of our varied products, investment strategies and teams.

What is the Investment Internship Scheme?

The investment internship will last 8 weeks in one of our investment teams. You’ll be placed in a team that suits the skillset identified during the recruitment process, with some consideration to your specific interests.

Whilst on the scheme, you’ll be exposed to several investment areas outside of your immediate team, through training and networking opportunities, to provide a broad understanding of our overall investment activities.

Where you'll be working

You’ll be placed in a team in one of the following areas:

  • Fixed Income: Our Fixed Income business manages assets on behalf of internal and institutional clients
  • Equities: Our Equities business manages assets on behalf of internal and retail clients
  • Macro Investment Business (Multi-Asset): The Multi-Asset team is responsible for managing six retail funds, as well as a Cayman-based hedge fund and segregated accounts
  • Prudential Portfolio Management Group (PPMG): PPMG is responsible for management and oversight of our parent company, Prudential’s assets
  • Prudential Capital (PruCap): PruCap manages Prudential Group’s balance sheet for profit, by providing treasury services to the Prudential Group

What we offer

You’ll take part in a training programme which includes insights sessions on asset management and our business units. These are designed to be suitable for those without industry knowledge, and will provide an understanding of the whole spectrum of our business areas.

Interns are also invited to networking and social events, and provided with a buddy from our graduate cohort who will act as an informal support contact.

We’re unable to provide sponsorship for internships and placements. However, if you're in full-time education in the UK under the Tier 4 (General) category, current regulations may permit you to take on temporary employment during holiday periods or as part of your studies.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are curious and have a driven approach to their work, with an ability to think both analytically and critically about problems
  • Show a genuine interest in understanding how investments are made
  • Are self-motivated, able to build and maintain relationships, and work effectively as part of a team
  • Can demonstrate independent thought and opinions on topics, are comfortable working with numbers and have excellent written and verbal communication skills

We’re looking for candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds and actively recruit from all degree disciplines. It’s not necessary to have studied a finance related degree or have relevant work experience, but an interest in financial services is important.

You’ll be in your penultimate year of study, be predicted a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree from any discipline and have 300 UCAS points or equivalent.

The rotations within the Investment Graduate scheme provided me with a great opportunity to gain in-depth exposure to the specifics of different teams and departments at M&G Investments. Additionally, M&G’s dedication towards expansion of the Women in Investment Management network, gender diversity and healthy work-life balance created an enabling work environment to grow professionally and build a network of contacts from the very earliest stages of my career.
