The 8 weeks is an immersive dive into the world of our investment activities which includes insight sessions on the M&G business units to provide a wide base of exposure within the company. Each intern will have a buddy from our graduate cohort who will provide informal support and promote integration with the M&G family. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend networking and social events which are essential for promoting the work life balance encouraged at M&G.
You will learn from our industry leading professionals and will be encouraged to present your own views and ideas. Interns at M&G make valuable contributions to the teams they work in and will be involved in a variety of tasks. The nature of the work will vary dependent on the team that you are placed, but through collaboration with your assigned manager there is always opportunity to tailor the internship to things that you already enjoy while remaining open to new and exciting areas on offer at M&G.
You will be placed in one of the following teams:
Investment Management IT team: We partner with our various Investment teams and their respective operational teams, as well as our regulatory, risk and performance teams. We work closely with our business to understand strategy and ensure technology solutions are designed to support business ambitions and are delivered promptly. We are working hard to replace older technology and, having just implemented Aladdin (the largest programme M&G has ever delivered and one of the largest in the City) we are now working towards a new investment accounting and performance system.
Global Distribution IT team: We partner with our sales, marketing and service teams, working with our business to become a digitally enabled organisation. Our ‘product owners’ need us to be flexible and nimble. The skills we bring are change management and technology development with recent projects including the creation of a chat bot which saves our internal sales teams a great deal of time, reworking an entire section of our databases and APIs, and working with external designers and front-end developers to upgrade our websites’ content management system and improve our customers’ website experiences.
Enterprise Services Team: We design, build, maintain and support the enterprise IT platforms which underpin all M&G Prudential technology. We provide systems at scale which make sure our colleagues across the entire organisation can innovative and serve the customers that we support across the globe with ease. Apart from delivering cloud technology, providing security systems to protect against cyber-attack and delivering a seamless mobile experience across devices, we also run adoption projects to ensure that any new technologies always bring value to employees.
Team placements are determined on skill sets identified during the recruitment process, business needs and individual interests. Throughout the scheme you will be assessed with a view to making 2020 Technology Graduate Scheme offers upon completion.

What’s great about working in Technology at M&G?
Graduates are held in high regard at M&G and when I joined people were very willing to share their knowledge and help me learn the ropes. I have rotated around different teams which has allowed me to explore a variety of roles, with each team providing a welcoming atmosphere. I have had the opportunity to run workshops, identify initiatives, and learn new programming languages and frameworks. I have even temporarily been a scrum master where I enjoyed running the team stand ups and retrospectives. The graduate scheme has provided me with thorough training about Investment Management and other topics including presentation skills. Working at M&G feels a world away from the university experience and I would encourage you to apply.
