M&G (Lux) Global Themes Fund - Themes grounded in reality

2 min read 11 Oct 21

Summary: Read more about the positioning and outlook of the M&G (Lux) Global Themes Fund and the changes being formalised in the fund from 11 November.

Key points

  • The analysis of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues has been an integral part of the fund’s investment process since the fund launched in 2019.
  • From 11 November 2021, the fund will be managed with a strict set of norms-based exclusions (companies deemed to be in breach of UN Global Compact Principles of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption) as well as sector-based and/or values-based exclusions, including tobacco, gambling, adult entertainment, coalfired power generation and nuclear power generation.
  • By formalising these exclusions and including these ESG considerations in the investment objective, the fund will be classified as Article 8 under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
  • We remain undeterred in our belief that the fund’s chosen themes will persist for many decades to come and that the beneficiaries of several powerful tailwinds have the potential to generate profitable growth for shareholders.
