Who can join The Academy?

Whether you’re starting out on your career path, returning to work after a career break, or maybe just looking for a new challenge, our Academy could be for you.

We’re looking for strong candidates, with the commitment and drive to build their knowledge and develop skills and behaviours required for the role. 

Continue to work while you study

Through our Academy training programme, you can achieve the qualifications and skills you need for a career as a financial adviser, while still working your current job.

Already part or full qualified?

If you already have your Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, you can still join, you’ll just start at Stage 2.

Your journey – the full Academy

The Academy takes the trainees through a four stage process before becoming a fully qualified financial adviser.

STAGE 1

Gain qualification (Complete Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning)

10-12 months (part-time study)

STAGE 2

Financial Adviser Foundation Programme (the skills of a great adviser, coupled with the ‘how to’ on systems and process)

One month (full time)

STAGE 3

Competent Adviser Status (The journey to competency)

12+ months (full time)

STAGE 4

Supported journey (Building confidence in our new advisers)

12+ months (full time)

Your journey - already part or fully qualified

Whether you’re working towards your Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or already qualified, if you’re new to advice, you can still join our Academy.

You’ll start our programme at Stage 2, which is all about setting you up for success.

Our training has been carefully designed to expand your technical knowledge and help you to develop the skills and behaviours you need to become a competent financial adviser.

Stage 2 – Focuses on the advice process and the client journey

One month (full time)

Overview:

  • Advice process and meeting structure
  • Introduction and positioning of meeting
  • Services and costs disclosure
  • Fact-finding
  • Need area analysis
  • Positioning needs and assessing budget
  • Investment and risk
  • M&G Proposition – products and services
  • Systems and processes
  • Compliance and case writing
  • Client acquisition strategies

Stage 3 – The journey to competency

12+ months (full time)

You’ll be allocated an Academy supervisor. They will work with you to provide you all the support and development you need to achieve your Competent Adviser Status (CAS).
 

Overview:

  • Meet with clients under supervision
  • Develop your skills to maximise the client experience and opportunity
  • Achieving CAS status

Stage 4 – Supported journey

12+ months (full time)

You are now a competent adviser.
 

Overview:

  • You’ll carry out initial and presentation meetings with your clients without close supervision.
  • Your Academy supervisor will help with complex cases and continue to support you with your personal development
