The aim of this strategy is to make long-term investments in companies from around the world that aim to generate a positive social and/or environmental impact alongside a financial return.
This is a concentrated portfolio, generally holding around 30 stocks, focusing on three categories of impactful companies – ‘pioneers’, ‘leaders’ and ‘enablers’ – to provide diversification across industries and maturity of business models.
The Positive Impact team undertakes a ‘triple i’ approach to identifying impactful investments, analysing the investment quality, intentionality and impact of a company to assess its suitability.
Once approved by the team, we can then invest in these companies when the timing and price are right. We embrace the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework and invest in companies focused on six key areas – three environmental and three social – mapped against the SDGs.
Both sustainability and impact considerations are fundamental in determining our investment universe and assessing business models, while engagement with companies is a key element of the investment strategy.
The value of investments will fluctuate, which will cause prices to fall as well as rise and investors may not get back the original amount they invested. There is no guarantee the objective will be achieved. While we support the UN SDGs, we are not associated with the UN and our funds are not endorsed by them.
