Shouting about our funds isn’t something we usually do.
However, we’re making an exception just this once, as this year marks 20 years since the original PruFund from Prudential was launched on 25 November 2004.
Over the last two decades, many of you will have enjoyed a smoother investment experience including the benefits of PruFund’s proven performance, and we’d like to celebrate this.
Remember past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
It’s hard to believe how much has happened in the last 20 years since PruFund was launched. The launch of YouTube, the first iPhone, TikTok and Netflix. Social media, emojis and selfies have taken off. Prince William married Kate Middleton, Kylie Minogue performed at Glastonbury and we saw the death of George Michael, Nelson Mandella, Prince Phillip – the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen.
There have been significant events as well, such as the 2012 London Olympics, Covid-19 pandemic and global lockdown, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We’ve seen various Labour and Conservative governments, the EU Referendum, Brexit and four US presidents – from Bush to Biden.
Bank of England rates have been as low as 0.25% and as high as 5.75% during the global financial crisis in 2007. Bitcoin cryptocurrency was launched in 2009 and Pensions Freedoms came into effect in 2015. Stock markets around the world have seen great volatility – the most significant being the crashes following the 2008 Financial Crisis and 2020 outbreak of Covid-19.
PruFund has stood the test of time throughout all of this, evolving over the last 20 years in line with changing markets, including a wider range of funds with varying risk levels – with over £63bn currently invested in the PruFund range as at June 2024. PruFund funds are now available on a range of pensions, drawdown, investments and ISA’s. It also offers the choice of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investment funds.
Remember, the value of your investment can go down as well as up, so you might get back less than you put in.
If you’re not already invested in PruFund and would like to find out more, please get in touch with your financial adviser, who would be happy to help.
