Pensions through your employer

Here you’ll find information about workplace pensions, applying for an AVC and how you can manage your plan online

Using our Online Service

There are other ways to get information about your policy. For most of our products, you can manage your policy online by logging in or registering for our Online Service. Registration is easy and only takes five minutes - all you need is your policy number. There's a small number of policies not currently available online, and these are listed on the registration page.

Workplace pensions

Your employer will need to automatically enrol you into a workplace pension scheme if you’re:

  • not already opted into another company pension scheme, which at least meets the auto-enrolment minimum requirements
  • aged between 22 and State Pension age
  • earn more than £10,000
  • work in the UK.

For more information about Workplace Pensions please have a look at our Workplace Pension Guide.

Prudential AVC

In addition to your workplace pension, your employer might offer membership to an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) scheme through Prudential.

An AVC is a separate pot of money you build up alongside your workplace pension, that aims to give you extra retirement benefits.

If you’re looking to apply for an AVC, please choose your scheme from the options below.

If your employer's scheme is set up under trust, the trustees have a duty to monitor the scheme, including checking that it is value for money. To find out more about this, you should contact the trustees of your employer's scheme.

Or if your employer's scheme is a workplace pension, since 6 April 2015, your pension provider must set up an Independent Governance Committee (IGC). Like trustees, an IGC has a duty to monitor the scheme, including also checking that it offers value for money. Find out more about our Prudential IGC.

Chances are, you will have heard 'workplace pensions' mentioned in the media, which all employers legally have to set up for their employees over the next few years. This process is called 'automatic or auto-enrolment' and millions of people already now have one of these types of pension.

If you're thinking about making any changes to your pension plan, it's important to understand all your options, and the effect of any changes you make.

  • If you’re looking to change your contributions then you should contact your employer in the first instance.
  • If you’re looking to switch your funds, the easiest way to do this is via your Online Service.

If you have any questions, or need any help understanding your options, you can give us a call on 0345 600 0383. Lines are open 8:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. We might record your call for training and quality purposes. To find out more about how we use your personal data please visit pru.co.uk/mydata
