At M&G, we understand that unexpected things happen, priorities change, and individual motivations evolve. Career paths are rarely linear and often involve many twists and turns. One thing is clear, though - taking a career break, starting a family or doing something completely different can develop valuable new insights, experiences and skills – all of which can be extremely useful to our business.

We've recruited returners who have been out of the workplace for as long as 9 years

We welcome applications from all diverse backgrounds, our last cohort included both male and female returners

We've had 100% conversion to permanent or full time contracts for the previous two programmes run at M&G.

In partnership with Women Returners, we are launching our 2023 intake of our forthcoming Career Returner Programme. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals who have taken an extended career break of 18 months or more to re-join the workplace in a supportive and flexible way.

In the recent past, we have recruited returners who have been out of the workplace for as long as 9 years and whilst some roles we offer may require specific expertise or knowledge, for the majority of roles we are looking for potential.

We welcome applications from all diverse backgrounds and are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, capable of building and maintaining relationships and are enthusiastic to work and learn with us.

We are also proud to report we have had a 100% conversion to permanent or full time contracts for the previous two programmes run at M&G.

We welcome applications from anyone who has had an extended career break of 18 months or more.

Complete our online application form
If you are selected for the next stage of the process, you will be invited to complete a one hour strength-based video or face to face interview
The final stage will involve a further one hour strength-based video or face to face interview, where you will receive an outcome shortly after

OpenWhen should I apply?

Applications for our Career Returners Programme open on 15/05/2023 and close on Monday 15/06/2023. Applications are assessed from the moment they are submitted, we therefore recommend that you start the process as soon as you can and do not wait until the deadline.

OpenCan I apply for more than one role?

You are welcome to apply for multiple roles on the programme.

OpenCan I re-apply if I am unsuccessful?

Yes, you can re-apply next year if you are unsuccessful this year.

OpenDoes it matter if I don’t have any relevant work experience?

Some roles may require specific expertise, however for the majority of roles we don’t look for any particular work experience; we look for potential and transferable skills. Candidates who succeed with us are self-motivated, capable of building and maintaining relationships and are enthusiastic to work and learn with us.

OpenI have carried out ad-hoc work within the last 18 months. Can I still apply?

Yes, you may still apply for our Career Returners Programme. We will consider anyone who has not been in full time employment for a period of 18 months+. Occasional part time work is acceptable, consistent part time work will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Looking after my young family was the main reason for taking a career break. I have four beautiful children aged 12 to 16 who are the biggest achievement of my life. I went back to work at the earliest opportunity when my youngest twins turned two. The most important factor when choosing a role was people.
