Greenhouse gas emissions statement

We have compiled our global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions statement in accordance with the Companies (Directors’ Report) and Limited Liability Partnerships (Energy and Carbon Report) Regulations 2018.

GHG emissions are broken down into three scopes; we have included full reporting for Scope 1 & 2, and selected Scope 3 reporting as best practice. Scope 1 emissions are our direct emissions from the combustion of fuel, fugitive emissions and company-owned vehicles. Scope 2 emissions cover our indirect emissions from the purchase of electricity (including use of company electrical vehicles), heating and cooling. We have reported our Scope 2 emissions using both the location and market-based methods in line with the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance. Our Scope 3 footprint currently includes business travel (category 6) booked through our travel providers, car travel in colleague-owned cars (category 6), water consumption (category 1), waste generation (category 5) from occupied properties (where data is available) and emissions from sub-leased property (category 13), where data is available. We do not currently report Investments (category 15) as part of this statement, but have reported this separately in our Annual Report.

Please refer to our Environmental Metrics Basis of Reporting 2024 (Basis of Reporting) for further detail on our methodology. Data is presented gross of any carbon credits. Selected metrics reported for 2024 (as indicated by A) have been subject to external independent limited assurance by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC). Data notes:

Reporting period: 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024
Baseline year: 2019
Consolidation boundary: Operational control as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is where the Group has authority to introduce and implement its operating policies at the operations.
Accounting methodology: Our GHG emissions and energy consumption are prepared in line with The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. Further details on our calculation methodology, including emission factors used can be found in our Basis of Reporting which is available on our website.
Data restatements: We have restated emissions from waste for 2023 from 53 tCO2e to 21 tCO2e due to the incorrect treatment in the calculation of emissions associated with one of our waste streams.

We continue to focus on reducing the carbon emissions related to our own operations as a corporate. We are focusing on three key areas:

Improving the environmental performance of our offices by focusing on identifying and assessing opportunities to improve energy efficiency.

Engaging with suppliers to encourage them to set carbon reduction targets aligned with climate science.

Travel

Reducing our travel emissions via promoting the use of sustainable modes of transport when journeys are necessary. In 2025 we will also be reviewing our travel target to align it with our ongoing business transformation activity and strategy to grow our international presence.

Basis of reporting for environment metrics

By accessing or using the Website and downloading any photographs, images, graphics, or any other visual content available for download or stored on the Website or M&G’s content management system (the “Photos”), you (“You”) represent to have read, understand and agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions (the "Terms"), forming a binding agreement between You and us. If You do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Website.

2. Intellectual Property Rights

All Photos available on the Website are the property of M&G or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws. Unauthorised use of any Photos or content is strictly prohibited.

3. Permitted Use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, M&G grants You a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to download and use the Photos available on the Website for any purpose, except for purposes which are defamatory, derogatory, related to pornography, otherwise indecent, or involve the creation or dissemination of AI-generated “deep fake images”. Photos can only be downloaded from the hidden URL provided in the press release.

4. Additional prohibitions

You agree that You will not:

(a) modify, alter, or create derivative works from the Photos;

(b) use the Photos in any manner that infringes on the intellectual property rights of M&G or any third party;

(d) share the hidden URL with any unauthorised third party.

5. Attribution

When using the Photos, You must provide appropriate credit to M&G by including a link to our Website or mentioning the source in a manner that is reasonable and customary.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Photos on the Website are provided “as is” without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. M&G does not warrant that the Photos will be error-free or that your access to the Photos will be uninterrupted.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall M&G be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the Photos, even if M&G has been advised of the possibility of such damages. As the Photos are provided free of charge, M&G's total liability to You for any damages, losses, and causes of action shall not exceed the amount paid by You for accessing the Photos, which is nil.

8. Indemnification

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
