Four years ago, we launched our social purpose, ‘Breaking Barriers, Building Futures’, to build inclusive and resilient communities through urban regeneration, economic empowerment and community building.
As part of our social purpose, we are taking our annual M&G in the Community Show on tour to bring to life how M&G and our colleagues across the globe are continuing to support our local communities.
Over the last three years our commitment to urban regeneration, economic empowerment and community building included planting more than 12,000 trees; inspiring over 124,000 teachers and young people to be advocates for the climate and ecological crisis; helping 73,670 students develop entrepreneurial and financial capability skills; developing a model to repurpose empty spaces into homes; and providing over 20,800 hours of volunteering support and expertise from our colleagues across the world.
To continue showcasing our work and the progress we’ve made, we have launched the 2023 M&G in the Community Show. With both virtual and in-person events in Scotland, London, Bath, Reading, Dublin, Italy, Mumbai, Singapore, and South Africa, colleagues will have many opportunities to learn about what we’ve achieved, how we support our flagship and local charity partners, and how they can get involved too.
Over the next two months we have the following activities taking place for colleagues:
- A virtual show for colleagues to discover the impact of the projects supported across the world.
- Colleagues volunteering on a range of projects from food banks to libraries and youth clubs.
- 30 minute mindful tile painting sessions for colleagues in our London and Edinburgh offices in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the M&G Wellbeing team. The tiles will be used to turn homes for vulnerable young adults into welcoming spaces.
- ‘Meal for a Meal’ where colleagues will share a photo of a local dish they have prepared and M&G will donate to feed vulnerable people around the world.
- In-person events at 10 locations across 3 continents where colleagues can learn about the charity we support
