Early retirement due to ill-health

You may be able to access your pension early on the grounds of ill-health.

How we can help

If a qualified medical practitioner confirms that you’re unable to work in your current occupation due to injury, sickness, disease or disability, you may be able to access your pension savings early. The normal minimum retirement age of 55 (57 from 2028) wouldn’t apply.

If you think you qualify for early retirement on the grounds of ill-health:

  • In the first instance, you should check your policy documents to see if your product allows for early access to your benefits on the grounds of ill-health.
