Planning your next steps with ease

As you approach retirement, you’ll start making decisions that will shape your lifestyle, income, and peace of mind for years to come. Whether you’re looking to take your pension soon or just exploring your options, understanding what’s available puts you in control.

When we’ll contact you

As you approach your 50th birthday, you’ll start receiving information packs about your retirement options. After that, we’ll send updates every 5 years until your Selected Retirement Date. Each pack will arrive about 4–10 weeks before your next milestone age.

You’ll also receive a pack just before your chosen retirement age, whenever you request a quote or anytime you choose to take money out of your pension.

  • Age 50 – We’ll send you an information pack and your pension summary.
  • Age 55 and every 5 years thereafter (age 57 from 6 April 2028) We’ll send you your first Retirement Options letter.
  • 4–6 months before your Selected Retirement Date – We’ll send you a Retirement Options Pack based on Selected Retirement Date.
  • 6 weeks before your Selected Retirement Date – We’ll send you a reminder pack.
  • Age 75 – We’ll send you another Retirement Options letter and reminder.

You’ll receive a pack whenever you request a pension quote or take money from your pension.

From age 55, you can request Quote and Retirement Options Packs to explore your choices. While you can access your savings from 55, you don’t have to - review your options and choose what fits your needs.

From 2028, the minimum age to access your pension will rise to 57, affecting most people born after 6 April 1973.
